EAA's Wild Blue Wonders Program

Visit Wild Blue Wonders.org!Leonardo da Vinci daydreamed about it. Charles Lindbergh captured the World's attention with it, now you can use the engaging power of aviation to foster science, math, technology, history, and life skills.

Students in grades 6 - 8 can explore flight for themselves through the Wild Blue Wonders program. This program features cutting-edge flight simulation technology, traditional navigation techniques, model airplane building, and artistic activities.

The exciting Wild Blue Wonders activities also provide excellent opportunities for students to practice critical thinking skills, leadership techniques, and small-group communication skills. The program is designed to be used by a five-person "flight crew" lead by an adult facilitator. The curriculum is flexible enough to be used in class or as an after-school project.

Wild Blue Wonders flight crews are guided through the program by a comprehensive teacher's guide and easy to use worksheets and checklists. The program can be used over the course of the school year, with the flight crew taking part in local and regional competitions in the Spring.

Each competition will provide a challenging and supportive environment for teams to share their skills and knowledge.  Regional championship teams will be invited to compete in the National Championships held each July at AirVenture Oshkosh. The 2003 national championship team was Squadron 091 from the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington. This team will be in Kitty Hawk to witness the reenactment of the First Flight in December.
