Named Official Publication Partner of EAA's 'Countdown to Kitty
Hawk' Program EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — (Nov. 25, 2002) — The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) announced today that FLYING Magazine, the world’s most widely read aviation magazine, has been named the “Official Publication Partner” of EAA’s Countdown to Kitty Hawk program, presented by Ford Motor Company, celebrating 100 years of powered flight. As “Official Publication Partner,” FLYING will provide significant advertising and editorial support for EAA’s Countdown to Kitty Hawk initiative throughout calendar year 2003, plus detailed coverage of important milestones in the Wright brothers’ search for powered flight at the turn of the century. EAA’s Countdown to Kitty Hawk program, which is also supported by Microsoft Flight Simulator and Eclipse Aviation, includes construction of an exact flying reproduction of the Wright flyer by the Wright Experience of Warrenton, Va. The EAA Wright flyer will be the centerpiece of a seven-stop national tour, which will conclude at Kitty Hawk, N.C., where the Wright flyer will fly again at exactly 10:35 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2003, as part of the nation’s Centennial of Flight Celebration. “We are very pleased to welcome FLYING Magazine as a partner in the Countdown to Kitty Hawk celebration,” EAA President Tom Poberezny said. “FLYING has been chronicling great moments of aviation history through much of the first century of powered flight. It reaches aviation enthusiasts around the world with its thorough and insightful writing.” FLYING Magazine, with a circulation of more than 300,000, contains authoritative articles written by some of the world’s most respected aviation journalists – articles dedicated to general and business aviation that inform, educate and entertain.
